ELSIE GRACE'S
Enjoy our Old Fashioned Vegetable Soup, and as you add the stew meat or ground beef from the grocery store, try to remember what it was when our Grandmas had to can veggies and beef.
Grandma Elsie Grace's Hearty Potato Soup was unique. It was of a creamy texture and always had those little green things in it. (When I grew older and wiser I discovered it was parsley!) Grandma also put tiny little chopped carrots in her potato soup. Like most children, I was hesitant to eat anything that had floating green and orange things in it. Grandma Elsie Grace told us the carrots were bits of gold and if we would eat all of our soup we could possibly find a post of gold at the bottom of the bowl. By the time the soup was gone we had forgotten about the floating green and orange things and the hidden treasure. Maybe we knew in our hearts, the post of gold was simply the love and laughter we shared at Grandma's house while eating a bowl of Elsie Grace's Hearty Potato Soup around the kitchen table
